Pouring the Concrete Foundation

In an effort to kick start my brain again and create a place to make a glorious mess I’ve decided to dedicate this space to such subversive activities.

Right now I am on a mission to completely overhaul my approach to note-taking, studying, paper writing, etc. Realizing your sophomore year of college that you really never developed any study skills or any “plan of action” skills is a bit scary. Its alright though and if I may reference the Dixie Chicks (oh yes there will be plenty of cheesy song references as I feel they apply to my life) in their song “Wide Open Spaces” the chorus exclaims,
“She needs wide open spaces, room to make her big mistakes…”
College is the place for such bold experiments because I am tired of the same old boring day in and day out of classes.
So in my attempt to change my approach to studying and projects I have become very fond of the website Study Hacks. It has a lot of crazy innovative ideas that I am more than willing to try. The site is maintained by the author of the popular “How To Become A Straight-A Student“, and although this isn’t necessarily my goal it wouldn’t hurt to actually get good grades.

At the end of my four years at this University I want to be able to say I lived out these lyrics:

“Well, I fought with a stranger and I met myself
I opened my mouth and I heard myself
It can get pretty lonely when you show yourself
Guess I could have made it easier on myself

But I, I could never follow
No I, I could never follow”

-Dixie Chicks “The Long Way Around”
